Saying Goodbye to Rock Junction with 12 Stones

One of New England's best venues, and easily my favorite, closed its doors this weekend after 2 years of bringing some amazing lineups to Rhode Island. 12 Stones were there on Saturday night to make sure the venue went out on a high note. Currently on a break, it was a great surprise to see 12 Stones announce this random one-off date.

Local bands Therapy, Burning Heat, and Killshot warmed up the audience with a wide range of covers, including everything from Metallica and Slipknot to Creed and Breaking Benjamin. Just before midnight 12 Stones took the stage, alongside new drummer Justin Pacy for the first time.

The guys made it clear very quickly that they hadn't gotten rusty during their months away from the stage. Singer Paul McCoy's vocals were even rawer and more powerful than on their albums, and the music matched up. They played through hit after hit, including "Bulletproof," "Adrenaline," and "Psycho." In between sets the band were hilarious and down to earth, adding to the relaxed atmosphere Rock Junction is known for.

Towards the end of their set 12 Stones threw in a surprise, bringing up Lansdowne's Josh Waterman to help out singing on "Broken." Continuing to switch things up a bit as they closed out the evening, the band showed their (slightly) softer side with "Lie To Me," perhaps their best performance of the night.

Despite never having played there before, 12 Stones received a warm welcome from fans and other bands to close up the venue. When tour dates begin to come out, make sure you clear your schedule for these guys--it's not a show you want to miss.
