Up first were Vegas newcomers Otherwise. Following the release of their hit 'Soldiers' these guys have landed shows with some of the biggest names in modern rock. The band's energy and enthusiasm on stage was amazing to see. They bounced around the stage nonstop throughout the set, clearly savoring every moment. Their set consisted of various songs off of their debut album, "True Love Never Dies," including their latest single 'I Don't Apologize'. Aside from a few issues with their sound, the set was perfect. They left the stage to make their way over to merch to meet with hundreds of newly earned fans.
Next to take the stage was Daughtry, led of course by American Idol's Chris Daughtry. It's no secret that Daughtry has an incredible voice, but hearing it live had the audience in awe. Powering through countless hits including 'Home', 'It's Not Over', and 'No Surprise', the band had the entire crowd singing along with every word. The rest of the band also proved their talent, four incredible musicians that do not get enough credit. The poppy songs transformed into heavy, guitar driven rock anthems thanks to guitarists Brian Craddock and Josh Steely, and the heavy drums from Robin DIaz sent waves pulsing through each and every person in the Convention Hall's chest with each beat.
3 Doors Down's southern charm and catchy songs have earned them a spot among the top bands in rock today. Following this months release of the bands first ever greatest hits album, singer Brad Arnold assured fans that the album certainly wasn't a sign that the band was done. Arnold laughed, saying "a greatest hits album, you know, that'll make you feel real old. But hey, I just tell myself we started young! A lot of bands wind down and stop making new music when they release this stuff. That's not gonna happen. We're just gettin' started." The reassurance that there was more to come from these guys seemed to be a relief to all, and to prove themselves, they played several new tracks, including the heartfelt 'Goodbye'.
To add to an already awesome night, 3 Doors Down brought Chris Daughtry back on stage to present a check towards a local charity working to repair the thousands of dollars in damage from last months Hurricane Sandy. This gesture showed what kind of guys these bands are, dedicated to using their music and fame as a way of helping others. Chris didn't stay off the stage long, returning a few minutes later to join Arnold in singing 'Be Like That.' The great night of music ended with an encore that included 'When I'm Gone' and Kryptonite.'
